In observance of World Kidney Day 2026, a Health Camp cum Organ Donation Awareness Campaign took place in Wainem Rongmei Naga Village and Bungte Chiru, Nambol, Bishnupur district, under the theme “Kidney Health for All: Caring for People, Protecting the Planet.” Organized by the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, the event aimed to enhance awareness of kidney health and offer essential healthcare services to rural communities. Specialist doctors from various fields, including Medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Dermatology, and ENT, conducted free OPD consultations and medical check-ups for approximately 150 patients from the local villages, providing medical advice, treatment, and necessary medications.

Additionally, an awareness session on organ and tissue donation featured healthcare professionals distributing informational pamphlets to inform the public about the significance of organ donation, the early detection of kidney diseases, and promoting healthy lifestyles. Patients also received free medicines during the camp. Supported by village organizers and volunteers, the event was coordinated by Prof. Ranjan Gondamei of IIT Roorkee. The initiative received enthusiastic participation from local residents, who expressed gratitude for the medical team’s efforts in providing specialized healthcare services in their villages. This outreach program underscores RIMS Imphal’s ongoing commitment to advancing community health, raising awareness about organ donation, and enhancing preventive healthcare in Manipur’s rural areas.
