In observance of World Kidney Day, a new 12-bedded dialysis unit was inaugurated at the Institute of Liver and Digestive Sciences (ILDS) in Heinoukhongnembi, Kwakeithel, to enhance treatment facilities for kidney-related ailments. The event adhered to the global theme “Kidney Health for All: Caring for People, Protecting Planet.” Senior Consultant Dr. N. Saratkumar highlighted that kidney disease affects one in ten individuals globally, with rising patient numbers, underscoring the need for timely treatment. The dialysis unit, equipped with modern facilities, will provide services to patients, who can also access treatment under government health schemes like the Chief Minister’s Health for All Scheme (CMHT) and the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY). The Director of ILDS encouraged those suffering from kidney issues to take advantage of the new medical services, which are expected to significantly improve access to life-saving dialysis treatment for kidney patients statewide.
