Every year, 14th June is Observed as World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) for giving thanks to Blood Donors and to Highlight the need of safe Blood Transfusion and Blood Products.

In This year, the theme of Blood Donor Day is “Give Blood, Give Plasma, share Life, share the need.”

This year’s theme highlights the importance of Blood Donation and signifies the difference between life and death for millions of people worldwide.

This is also the message from Kiran Verma, a Delhi resident, who has been trying to spread this for the past few years.

Kiran Verma, who is the founder of “Simply Blood” is currently on a mission to ensure that nobody would die waiting for Blood in India after 31st December 2025.

To spread his message, Verma was on a walk across India covering over 21,000 Kms to create awareness and encourage blood donation.
Kiran Verma, who began his unprecedented walk for blood on 28th December 2021, from the Kerala capital Thiruvananthapuram, has already covered 13,400 Kms on Foot across 176 Districts, 12 States and Union Territories in about 18 months. (including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Dadar, Daman and Diu, Gujarat, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal.)

“When I was set out on this walk, I was planned to walk from one capital city to another, and that is how 21,000 kms was calculated. But as I start the walk and met more and more people, I realised that I should go beyond from capitals to smaller cities. That is what I am doing right now and once it is completed, my walk will be much more than 21,000 kms that I had originally planned. I still don’t know how long it will go or when I will complete this walk,” Verma said, who is currently in Dakshin Dinajpur district of West Bengal.
