In a press conference, the convenor of Ima gi Meira, Thokchom Sujata, strongly criticized the state government’s decision to commence the upcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly session on February 28. She emphasized the urgency of preponing the session by at least three days from the scheduled date. Sujata highlighted the unfortunate timing of the session, which coincides with the completion of the Suspension of Operation agreement with Kuki militants and governments.

She expressed concern that the current crisis has persisted for nearly nine months without any substantial discussion in the Legislative Assembly. She asserted that the government’s decision to convene the session primarily for financial year considerations neglects the pressing issues faced by the public. Sujata emphasized the need to address the ongoing crisis, particularly the abrogation of the Suspension of Operation agreement with Kuki militants.

Urging for the preponement of the session, she emphasized the importance of prioritizing discussions on the current crisis over financial matters during these challenging times. Additionally, she questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s absence from Manipur during his recent visit to Assam.
