On the occasion of the 17th VDF Raising Day, the Thoubal District Village Defence Force (VDF) held a celebration at the District Police Headquarters, attended by notable figures including SP Thoubal Manoj Prabhakar M, IPS, and Md. Idrish Shah, president of the Thoubal district VDF Welfare Association. The event featured floral tributes to deceased VDF personnel, a band salute, and the presentation of gifts to bereaved families along with appreciation certificates to selected personnel. SP Prabhakar praised the VDF for their contributions to law enforcement and assured continued support for their welfare. Additional SP Divya emphasized the significant role of the 1,800 VDF members within the 3,000 personnel Thoubal district police force. Idrish Shah called for government support, including medical assistance, increased honorarium, and better facilities, announcing a Rs 50,000 enhancement in death benefits for bereaved families, bringing the total to Rs 3 lakhs, effective from the celebration date. He urged VDF members to remain dedicated to their duties and collaborate with the police for community safety and security.
