In anticipation of the Yaoshang festival, a preventive vaccination camp for pets was held at the Social Workers Congress (SWC) in Khongman, in collaboration with the Veterinary Dispensary of Akampat, Imphal East. During this initiative, over 40 dogs and cats received vaccinations to protect them from potential diseases, a precaution aimed at ensuring public health and animal safety during the festival season. With increased participation of children and youth in sports and cultural activities expected in local playgrounds, young visitors traditionally collect ‘Nakhadeng’ from households as part of the celebration. Given the projected rise in outdoor activities and community interactions, the vaccination drive was implemented to reduce health risks and foster a safe festive environment for both residents and their pets. The organisers expressed optimism that these proactive efforts would lead to a joyous and incident-free Yaoshang celebration in the community.
