Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Tokhan Sahu, completed a two-day visit to the State on Sunday, where he undertook various inspections and interactions aimed at assessing and promoting urban development initiatives. On the second day, Sahu inspected housing projects constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U) at Ward Number 7, located within the Kakching Municipal Council. He also visited the Salam Project Pukhri Achouba, part of the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0 program.

During his visit, Sahu engaged with members of Self Help Groups (SHG) operating under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY NULM) near Leibaklei Gas, and he examined the Moramba Solid Waste Management site, which falls under the Kakching Municipal Council (KMC). Furthermore, he inspected the facilities at the Kakching District Hospital and viewed products created by Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) showcased at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex, which included crochet dolls and sanitary pads.

In an effort to promote environmental sustainability, Tokhan Sahu, alongside Deputy Commissioner Uppuluri Chaitanya (IAS), Priyadarshini Laishram (IPS), and Kakching Forest officials, planted tree saplings at the DC Office Complex. His visit commenced with a warm welcome from the District Administration Kakching team on Saturday evening, led by Deputy Commissioner Uppuluri Chaitanya and supported by local MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar Singh and his staff.

In addition to these activities, Sahu held discussions with District Level Officers to review the implementation of flagship programs across various governmental departments. He emphasized the importance of earnest execution of these initiatives and encouraged officers to share insights and suggestions, assuring them of his support for their development efforts. He concluded with a commitment to the overall advancement and development of the State by the Government.
