On March 12 at approximately 5:50 p.m., authorities received credible information concerning individuals involved in narcotic drug distribution in the Yairipok Yambem area under Andro PS. Following this, a joint operation was authorized, involving the ANTF Imphal East Unit and CDO/IE Unit, which conducted frisking and checks near the Yambem High School Gate under proper supervision. At 6:54 p.m., two individuals on a Honda Dio scooter (MN06SX5443) traveling from Yairipok Ningthounai towards Yambem PHC were detained for inspection.
Upon searching the vehicle, in the presence of a Gazetted Officer, officers discovered a black plastic polythene concealed within a green plastic bag, which contained approximately 1.04 kg of suspected Brown Sugar (including packaging) located in the scooter’s toolbox. The suspects were identified as Md. Najimuddin, 31 years old, of Yairipok Ningthounai Mathak Leikai, and Md. Jabir, 27 years old, of Yairipok Ningthounai, Imphal East. In addition to the Brown Sugar, the seizure included mobile phones with SIM cards and the Honda Dio scooter itself.
Both individuals were arrested at around 7:05 p.m., and the seized items were documented and taken as evidence under Section 43 of the NDPS Act, 1985. Subsequently, the arrested suspects and the seized items were transferred to the Andro Police Station for further legal proceedings.
