On National Education Day, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) highlighted its ongoing efforts to bridge the skills gap in India with a range of impactful skill development programs aimed at empowering underprivileged youth. With a focus on creating pathways to employment, TKM’s initiatives, such as the Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI) and the Toyota Kaushalya Program, have trained over 1,10,000 individuals, contributing to the country’s industrial growth.
A key program, TTTI, established in 2007, has provided free, high-quality technical education to youth, with a special emphasis on holistic development. Recent expansions have increased its capacity to 1,200 students, including facilities for 600 women. The Toyota Kaushalya Program allows rural youth to learn while earning, offering them industry experience through on-the-job training.
For Imphal, these initiatives offer a significant opportunity, particularly as the region seeks to enhance its automotive and manufacturing industries. Imphal, with its growing demand for skilled professionals, stands to benefit from TKM’s expertise in developing a workforce equipped with global industry standards. The introduction of such programs can help local youth gain valuable skills, addressing the gap in skilled labor and boosting employment prospects in the region. G. Shankara, Executive VP at TKM, emphasized, “Our programs are a step toward shaping India’s skilled workforce and contributing to the vision of a progressive nation.”
