Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) marked World Environment Health Day by reaffirming its commitment to environmental sustainability, transitioning from a traditional carmaker to a holistic mobility company. The initiative is part of the global Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050 (TEC 2050), which aims to achieve carbon neutrality and create a net positive impact on the environment through six strategic challenges.
TKM has made significant strides in sustainable practices, including water management where 89.3% of production water comes from recycled sources and rainwater harvesting. The company has also achieved over 96% waste recycling, moving towards a zero waste-to-landfill goal. With its facilities powered entirely by renewable energy since June 2021, TKM has significantly reduced its carbon footprint.
In Imphal, growing consumer awareness around sustainability is shaping purchasing decisions. Residents are increasingly inclined to support brands demonstrating eco-friendly practices, reflecting a broader trend of environmental consciousness. TKM’s initiatives resonate well, positioning the company as a leader in sustainability in the region. Mr. B. Padmanabha, Executive Vice President of TKM, emphasized that the company is dedicated to embedding sustainability in all operations, promoting eco-consciousness among stakeholders for a healthier future.
