Manipur: Monday in the Manipur Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh introduced the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA).
Chief Secretary Dr. Vineet Joshi, Director General of Police Rajiv Singh, Ministers, MLAs, Administrative Secretaries, and Speaker of the House Thokchom Satyabrata Singh attended the inauguration celebration.
Speaking as the function’s principal guest, the principal Minister stated that, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vibrant and innovative leadership, this is a historic occasion.
According to him, the nation hopes to overtake the United States as the third-largest economy in the world within the next five years, led by the Prime Minister.
Moreover, the Prime Minister’s goal for the introduction of NeVA, according to the Chief Minister, is to make India a knowledge economy and society empowered by technology.
NeVA is one of the 44 mission mode initiatives that the Indian government has designated, he added, with the goal of facilitating paperless assembly. He went on, “Helping (the Assembly) become more transparent, accessible, accountable, and effective in promoting democracy is one of the main objectives for launching NeVA.”
He said that legislatures have now been converted into “Digital Houses,” which will help the environment and the economy.
According to him, e-Assembly service is now a requirement for e-democracy, a stage in which ICT (information and communication technology) is an essential component of democratic expression. He also added that it will be a significant platform for the nation’s unity by uniting all of the legislatures on a single platform.
N. Biren Singh also emphasized the Transport Department’s Vahan Application and the Manipur Gazette’s Digitization & e-Archiving initiatives, both of which were introduced yesterday.
He also expressed gratitude to Speaker of the State Assembly Narendra Modi, his staff, and the technical teams for the prompt implementation of NeVA in the State Assembly, which is based on the Prime Minister’s One Nation, One Application philosophy.
Speaking at the ceremonial event, Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata Singh stated that NeVA wants to digitally connect all Legislative Assemblies and the legislatures of the Parliament, recognizing that we live in a digital age.
Speaking extensively, Satyabarta also discussed the advantages of the House going paperless and the positive impact it will have on the environment by reducing the amount of paper used in the House.
The Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, the members of the House, including the Chief Minister, and the people of the State were congratulated on the inauguration of NeVA by Additional Secretary Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Mission Leader NeVA Dr. Satya Prakash, who gave the keynote address.
Dr. Satya Prakash expressed that everyone is celebrating this momentous occasion. The Manipur Assembly is the 13th Legislative Assembly to fully embrace digitalization by becoming live on NeVA and being a part of digital Houses.
He went on to say that NeVA represents the country’s unshakable commitment to using technology to advance democracy and good governance. He went on, “It’s an end-to-end process-based platform built on the idea of One Nation, One Application.”
With NeVA, the Manipur Assembly makes a major advancement towards a digital age, providing both our legislatures and citizens with cutting-edge instruments and resources to participate actively in the democratic process. He said that members would have access to a wealth of digital materials through this platform, such as committee reports, legislative documents, debates, and much more.
Furthermore, it should be mentioned that the members participated in a fictitious training session.
