SWITCH Mobility Ltd, a subsidiary of Ashok Leyland, has unveiled a groundbreaking new range of electric city buses, the SWITCH EiV12 for India and the SWITCH E1 for Europe. The SWITCH EiV12, India’s first low-floor city bus with chassis-mounted batteries, promises to revolutionize urban transportation with over 400 kWh of scalable battery capacity. Launched by ShriNitinGadkari, India’s Minister for Road Transport and Highways, the bus is designed to meet the growing demand for sustainable, efficient, and safe city transport.

The SWITCH E1, tailored for the European market, is an equally impressive innovation featuring in-wheel motors and a triple-door design for easy access. Both buses are built on SWITCH’s global EV architecture, ensuring optimal performance and safety. With the Indian electric bus market projected to grow at an annual rate of 21%, SWITCH Mobility is poised to capture a significant share of the market. The launch has already received over 1,800 pre-orders.

In Imphal, the need for eco-friendly transportation solutions is more pressing than ever. With its rising pollution levels and traffic congestion, the SWITCH EiV12 could offer a welcome alternative, transforming Imphal’s public transport system while reducing environmental impact and improving urban mobility. This is a step toward a greener and more sustainable future for the city.
