The XLIV District Level Science Exhibition for schools in Kakching district took place on Wednesday at the Library and Information Centre, organized by the Science Unit of the Zonal Education Office (ZEO). The event was inaugurated by Zonal Education Officer Mayanglambam Rakesh, with Deputy Inspector of Schools Khangembam Binodini Devi as the guest of honour. Students from Classes IX to XII participated under the theme “STEM for Viksit and Atmanirbhar Bharat,” with seven students forming six teams from various local schools.
In the competition, Mayengbam Aditya from Kakching Higher Secondary School secured the 1st position, Khumukcham Linthoi Devi from Kakching Khunou High School achieved 2nd place, and Elangbam Obed Singh from Langmeidong Higher Secondary School came in 3rd. Salam Rina Devi of Kakching Khunou High School claimed 4th, while 5th place was shared by Khumukcham Nganthoi and Pretina Mayanglambam. Certificates were awarded to winners and participants, with the top five students set to represent Kakching district at the State Level Students Science Exhibition.
ZEO Rakesh emphasized the importance of such exhibitions in nurturing scientific talent among students and highlighted that science is essential throughout life. He expressed the goal of the exhibition as reinforcing the scientific foundation of students while encouraging their contributions to societal development. Despite schools’ examination schedules, he called for increased effort to enhance future exhibitions and to advocate for the societal benefits of science.
