Shija Hospitals and Research Institute Pvt. Ltd. has firmly rejected a shutdown threat issued by the Kangleipak Communist Party – People’s War Group (MC Unification), demanding the hospital’s closure within 48 hours. During a press conference at the hospital’s Langol auditorium, Dr. Palin Khundongbam, the Chairman and Managing Director, emphasized that the institution will continue to provide medical services and will not suspend treatment for any patients. The conference was attended by key hospital officials, current patients, and their relatives. Dr. Palin described the allegations from the group as unfounded, causing unnecessary distress to patients, the public, and hospital staff. He noted that the hospital has not received any official communication regarding the shutdown demand.

Shija Hospitals issued a press release mentioning that reports from March 10 detailed a directive from the Kangleipak Communist Party for the hospital to shut down and surrender, which the institute feels obligated to address due to its potential humanitarian impact on patients in care. Serving the people of Manipur for nearly 40 years, Shija Hospitals has provided essential medical services in line with Indian laws and healthcare standards. The hospital currently caters to over 300 patients requiring frequent dialysis, alongside numerous others in critical care units, underscoring that any disruption could jeopardize vulnerable patients’ health.

The institute affirmed that all its consultants and doctors are full-time professionals devoted to patient care. Accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers, the hospital adheres to recognized patient care and safety standards. Shija Hospitals appealed to the Kangleipak Communist Party to reconsider its directive, advocating for the continuation of services for patient welfare and community health, while expressing a willingness to engage in peaceful dialogue to resolve the matter.
