In an alarming incident in Imphal, Khoirom Loyalakpa, the senior editor of the daily newspaper Naharolgi Thoudang, was ambushed and assaulted by armed assailants last night. The attack took place near Hatta cemetery at approximately 10 pm, where the assailants fired two shots at his vehicle before physically attacking him. Following the assault, Loyalakpa was admitted to the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences for medical treatment. Authorities have initiated a case at Porompat Police Station, and an investigation is currently in progress. As of the time of this report, the identities and motives of the attackers remain unknown.
