In a significant blow to the illicit activities of the banned National Revolutionary Front of Manipur (NRFM), security forces successfully apprehended an active cadre in Imphal on May 7, disrupting the outfit’s extortion racket.
The captured rebel, identified as 33-year-old Heisnam James Singh alias Kumar, was intercepted near the RIMS Gate on Lamphel RIMS Road. Singh’s arrest follows a targeted crackdown on the NRFM’s extortion operations in the Imphal vicinity. Security personnel seized a two-wheeler and a mobile phone from his possession, uncovering vital evidence linked to the outfit’s nefarious activities.
Operating under the guise of the NRFM, Singh employed coercion tactics to extract money from individuals and businesses in the state capital, instilling a sense of fear and intimidation within the community.
