Three active members of banned outfits have been arrested in coordinated operations across Manipur since December 1, as confirmed by security officials. These detentions are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle extortion networks and militant activities in the conflict-ridden state. An active cadre of UNLF (K), identified as Laishram Pronanjit Singh alias Jit, was apprehended in Imphal West for alleged extortion. A mobile phone, reportedly utilized for extortion communication, was seized from him. Additionally, an active cadre of KCP (PWG), Thounaojam Yaima Meitei, was arrested from his residence in Imphal West, with his mobile phone and SIM card confiscated. On the same day, Thounaojam Subhashchandra Meitei, an active cadre of RPF/PLA, was apprehended in Kakching district, where a mobile phone was also seized. Officials believe these arrests could lead to significant insights into broader extortion networks and the interconnections among insurgent groups operating in Manipur.
