The Department of Community Medicine, Shija Academy of Health Sciences (SAHS), Langol, conducted a health talk on “Cervical Cancer and HPV Vaccination” at Singjamei Chingamakha High School, Imphal West. The programme was organised under the compulsory Rotatory Internship Posting for Foreign Medical Graduates and the school health programme.
The programme commenced at 10:30 AM with the participation of around 60 students from classes IX and X. The session began with a structured and informative presentation by the interns on cervical cancer, highlighting its risk factors, symptoms, preventive measures, and the importance of HPV vaccination, supported by charts and visual aids. This was followed by an interactive discussion, during which faculty members engaged with the students, addressed their queries, and clarified doubts to reinforce understanding.
The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Bemma Konthoujam, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine and In-charge of the Urban Health Training Center (UHTC), along with tutors and supporting staff.
The initiative aimed to raise awareness about cervical cancer prevention and the Government of India’s HPV vaccination campaign. Students and teachers actively participated in and appreciated the session. The programme concluded with light refreshments arranged by the Department.
