Journalist Kharibam Yaiphaba was bestowed with the prestigious RK Sanatomba Journalist Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to journalism, particularly for his insightful reporting on agricultural innovation. The RK Sanatomba Memorial Trust, established to commemorate the legacy of RK Sanatomba Singh, former editor of the local daily Kangla Lanpung, has been annually presenting this esteemed award to honor journalists in Manipur.

The award ceremony, held in a modest setting at the office of the RK Sanatomba Memorial Trust, included a solemn floral tribute to the late RK Sanatomba. The award, which includes a cash prize of Rs 25,000, a citation, and a shawl, was presented by Mangi Shija, the mother of the late Sanatomba Singh. Addressing the gathering, RK Nimai, Chairman of the RK Sanatomba Memorial Trust, acknowledged the challenges faced by journalists in conflict-prone regions like Manipur and praised their steadfast commitment to serving the community despite limited resources.

“In recognition of their invaluable contributions, the RK Sanatomba Journalist Award is presented annually to honor exceptional journalists,” Nimai remarked. This year, Kharibam Yaiphaba was selected for his exemplary reporting on agricultural advancements. The ceremony also paid tribute to late RK Sanatomba Singh, celebrating his significant contributions to society and his unwavering dedication to journalism.
