The Government of Manipur announced that by December 2025, over 2,200 families, representing approximately 10,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs), had been resettled. As part of its ongoing efforts, the government aims to resettle more than 10,000 displaced families, totaling over 40,000 IDPs, by March 31, 2026. Chief Secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel highlighted that a State Level Committee, chaired by the Chief Secretary and including senior officials, has been established to oversee the rehabilitation process, with District Level Committees formed under District Magistrates conducting regular reviews.
The government’s primary goal is not only to relocate IDPs from camps but to provide comprehensive support for their rehabilitation, including restoring stable living conditions and enabling the resumption of livelihoods and education. Approximately 7,000 houses have been sanctioned under the Special PMAY-G scheme for reconstruction efforts, with funding of about ₹1,124 crore allocated for resettlement initiatives at various locations. As of early 2026, about 3,700 families, accounting for roughly 16,500 IDPs, have been successfully resettled. The government reaffirms its commitment to ensure the timely and safe rehabilitation of all displaced individuals.
