Reckitt, a global leader in consumer health and hygiene, has unveiled the inspiring Rainbow Classrooms initiative in collaboration with Plan India under its Durex The Birds and Bees Talk (TBBT) program. This groundbreaking initiative aims to transform schools across Northeast India into safe havens of gender inclusivity and understanding.

Central to the initiative are vibrant, rainbow-colored classroom doors symbolizing inclusivity and serving as badges of honor for schools leading the charge in embracing diversity. Supported by the Government of India and aligned with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), the initiative introduces India’s first gender diversity course designed specifically for teachers. This course equips educators with essential knowledge and tools to guide students through the complexities of gender identity with sensitivity and expertise. Gaurav Jain, Executive Vice President of Reckitt – South Asia, expressed the initiative’s profound impact: “The Rainbow Classrooms initiative reflects our commitment to nurturing environments where every student feels valued and respected. By empowering educators and enhancing school infrastructure, we aim to cultivate a culture of acceptance and celebration of diversity.”

The initiative will unfold across Sikkim, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh, featuring engaging activities such as painting competitions and gender equality workshops. Reckitt’s plans include extending the initiative’s reach to include Imphal, Gangtok, Itanagar, and Namsai markets, affirming its dedication to community support and fostering a society where everyone can thrive.
