In a post on X, CM Khemchand reflected on the profound respect owed to the brave souls who lost their lives during the assault, emphasizing their unmatched bravery and unwavering dedication to India. He asserted that the people of Manipur stand united with the families of the deceased heroes, pledging a collective determination to uphold the nation’s integrity, unity, and sovereignty.
Additionally, former Chief Minister N Biren Singh joined in paying tribute, acknowledging the heroism of those who prioritised duty over life itself. He remarked that, as the nation collectively remembers the Pulwama martyrs, their sacrifice serves to fortify the spirit of India. Singh expressed that the nation will remain eternally grateful to the fallen, and their legacy will persist, guiding and inspiring future generations.
The Pulwama attack, which tragically occurred on February 14, 2019, involved a convoy of Indian security personnel on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway being targeted by a suicide bomber. This heinous act resulted in the deaths of 40 members of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), marking a significant and sorrowful moment in the nation’s history that continues to evoke profound esteem and remembrance.
