As part of the National Integration Tour (NIT), the Assam Rifles organized a 15-day journey for 23 delegates from Civil Society Organisations in Tengnoupal and Chandel districts of Manipur, supported by 45 personnel. The tour aimed to enhance national unity and cultural exchange, commencing in New Delhi on February 15, where the delegates were hosted at the International Youth Hostel. A significant moment was a meeting with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on February 16, where she commended Northeast India’s cultural heritage and urged the delegates to engage in peace, education, and national progress. The group’s itinerary included visits to India Gate, the National War Memorial, and the Red Fort, fostering pride and national consciousness.

The tour later took the delegates to Gujarat, enriching their experiences with visits to various landmarks. In Ahmedabad, they connected emotionally with Manipuri youth in the hospitality sector before visiting the Atal Bridge, symbolizing inclusive urban planning. At Dandi Kutir, Gandhi’s principles of truth and non-violence were brought to life, prompting reflections on core values essential to India’s unity. Law Garden showcased grassroots entrepreneurship and cultural preservation, highlighting community contributions to economic growth. The emotional pinnacle of the tour occurred at the Statue of Unity, reinforcing the strength found in collective efforts.

The delegation met Governor Acharya Devvrat, who praised Assam Rifles for promoting peace and integration in the Northeast. Their visit to Gujarat Science City exposed them to interactive scientific exhibits, which encouraged embracing knowledge and innovation for progress. Additionally, General Gourav Bagga, GOC 11 Infantry Division, stressed the shared responsibility in protecting national security and fostering civil society’s engagement in stability and development.
