In conjunction with International Women’s Day on March 8, a press conference was conducted by Mera Yuva Bharat (MYB) Senapati in collaboration with the District Youth Affairs and Sports Office at the MYB Senapati Office. P.S. John Longkhaye, the Youth Officer from DYASO Senapati, highlighted a series of competitive sports events aimed at inspiring and empowering women. He introduced ASMITA (Achieving Sports Milestone by Inspiring Women through Action), a national flagship initiative designed to encourage widespread participation among women and girls in athletics, showcasing their inherent potential.

The upcoming International Women’s Day celebration in Senapati district is scheduled for March 8, 2026, at Astro Turf, Senapati. Longkhaye specified that the ASMITA event will include various track events and a football match, emphasizing the talent of females in the district. Participation is open to all women and girls within Senapati, and competitors must register for a National Sports Repository System (NSRS) ID using an Aadhaar Card or visit the My Bharat Office located at the Old DC Office for additional registration assistance.

The organizers encouraged community involvement to support this empowering celebration of female athletics. The press conference was also attended by key figures including Paulina Monsang, Deputy Director of MYB Senapati, and Pforkrehrii and P.S. Khopuh, mentors for Khelo India Badminton and Indigenous Wrestling, respectively. Each expressed their dedication to ensuring the success of the International Women’s Day observance in 2026, reinforcing the initiative’s aim to foster empowerment, community involvement, and sportsmanship.
