Amid ongoing violence in Manipur, Congress leader Pawan Khera has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the state during his trip to Assam. In a post on the platform ‘X’, Khera expressed that Manipur, which has been experiencing unrest since 2023, should not be neglected, emphasizing that the Prime Minister’s presence could significantly reassure the local population. He sarcastically offered air tickets for Modi’s journey from Guwahati to Imphal to facilitate the visit, stating that despite the focus on poll-bound states, Manipur’s dire situation requires attention. The unrest escalated following protests against the swearing-in of new Deputy Chief Ministers, leading to violent clashes in Churachandpur. Additionally, reports indicated arson in villages around Ukhrul district. While tensions persist, local authorities have noted that overall law and order has stabilized within the past 24 hours, aided by the establishment of a Joint Control Room in Litan to coordinate security efforts.
