NewGlobe Education Services India LLP has reaffirmed its commitment to the children of Manipur following the conclusion of the STAR Education programme, implemented in partnership with the Samagra Shiksha Implementation Society since September 2021. Launched in July 2022, the programme delivered measurable learning gains across 511 schools, benefiting 38,000 students and 2,809 teachers across all 16 districts.

Within just 18 weeks in 253 schools, STAR Education achieved a 0.22 standard deviation improvement in literacy and 0.43 in numeracy, placing it among the top global education interventions. The programme outperformed 80% of similar initiatives in English and 90% in mathematics in low- and middle-income countries. Student enrolment rose by 45%, with 8,200 additional students joining Classes 6 to 9, while reading fluency was 3.4 times higher than non-STAR schools. During conflict-related school closures in May 2023, NewGlobe extended outreach to 64 relief camps, supporting around 2,800 children through learning and recreational activities.

Speaking on the programme, Sujatha Muthayya said Manipur has faced nearly two years of learning loss due to COVID-19 and conflict, warning that prolonged school closures could reduce students’ lifetime earnings by up to 28%. In Imphal, the STAR programme as a critical intervention in rebuilding learning ecosystems disrupted by prolonged closures. Increased enrolment, improved learning outcomes, and the integration of digital tools have created demand for quality education services, training solutions, and learning materials. Experts believe such scalable models could influence future investments in the region’s education sector while strengthening human capital development in Manipur.
