The awareness programme on NABL Accreditation, held at Manipur Technical University (MTU) under the Gunvatta Yatra Initiative of the Quality Council of India (QCI), highlighted the limited number of NABL-accredited laboratories in the State as a significant concern. Organized by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) and hosted by MTU’s Department of Civil Engineering, the event aimed to educate industries, laboratories, and academic institutions on the importance of NABL accreditation in achieving quality, technical competence, and global acceptance of testing results. Ashutosh Debnath, NABL Consultant, presented on the accreditation process, eligibility criteria, and the benefits, emphasizing the urgent need to enhance quality infrastructure due to the scarcity of accredited laboratories in the State. Over 50 professionals participated, including representatives from the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, MTU, Dhanamanjuri University (DMU), and other institutions. Participants pledged commitment to quality and standardization through the “Quality Bharat Pledge.” Kosygin Leishangthem, Course Coordinator and IPR Cell Nodal Officer at MTU, stressed the importance of industry-academia collaboration and aligning practices with global standards. The programme concluded with an interactive session and a vote of thanks from the organizers, recognizing the contributions of NABL, QCI, and all involved.
