The second foundation day of the Manipur People’s Development Foundation (MPDF) was celebrated at Salungfam Mamang Ching in Thoubal district, highlighting the foundation’s commitment to nurturing responsible youth and fostering a self-reliant society. The event featured a range of activities and speeches, attended by key figures such as MPDF advisor Th. Manihar, MPDF President Pebam Bishambhor, Dr. K. Indrakumar Singh from Dhanamanjuri University’s Political Science Department, and Ima Keithel President Ema Memma Devi, who served as presidium members.

In his keynote address, MPDF General Secretary Arunjit Ningthouja emphasized the foundation’s mission to guide and empower youth facing societal challenges. He stated that MPDF strives to instill a sense of responsibility and patriotism among young people, encouraging them to live with dignity through unity and collective effort. As part of its initiatives, MPDF has started cultivating dragon fruit at Salungfam Mamang Ching and is also engaged in rearing hens, ducks, and pigs. Furthermore, vocational training programs in food processing and related skill development are being offered to local residents.

Ningthouja also noted the establishment of MPDF units across various locations, including Salungfam, Langol, Tentha, Heirok, Charangpat, Khangabok, Jiribam, and Keithelmanbi, with a major project planned at Ningel. The organization called on all sectors of society for support in its objectives.

MPDF Advisor Th. Manihar urged for the identification of true allies and enemies, advocating for unity among the Indigenous Tribes of Manipur to strengthen friendships and collectively pursue peace and development. He reiterated MPDF’s goal of guiding youth toward responsible citizenship for a united and progressive Manipur.

Ema Memma Devi expressed concerns from mothers about their children’s futures, reinforcing the idea that unity and collective action are crucial in safeguarding the next generation amidst the current challenges in the state. The celebration concluded with gift distributions to MPDF leaders, representatives from various student bodies, Meira Paibi groups, local village leaders, and the Village Chief of Mariland village, attended by civil society organization leaders and numerous MPDF unit members.
