Deputy Commissioner Pooja Elangbam launched a Mobile Canteen Initiative for school students, operated by Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), at New Model Public School in Kumbi. She highlighted the initiative’s potential to provide IDPs with a source of income through food sales in schools, which will be available two to three times a week based on demand. The initiative began formally at Kumbi and aims to offer students tasty, nutritious meals. During the launch, Elangbam engaged with students, encouraging their focus and commitment to education, emphasizing the importance of their formative years. The event was attended by social activist Rohan Philem and Zonal Education Office representatives. Later, she participated in a Community Solidarity Event organized by SAATHI and ETA, where she praised their work in supporting people affected by HIV and assured the District Administration’s assistance to the transgender community through identity card issuance and rights awareness initiatives.
