The Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) celebrated “International Women’s Day, 2026” at the Sangai Conference Hall, Hotel Imphal, under the theme “Give to Gain.” The event highlighted the spirit, strength, and resilience of women in the region. Dr. SS Olish, MLA of 41-Chandel, emphasized the blessing of being born a woman and underscored the importance of women’s roles in society. She urged women to nurture goodwill, unity, and mutual understanding, hoping these values will contribute to lasting peace in Manipur. Dr. Olish encouraged women to utilize their inherent compassion and kindness to promote peaceful dialogue and avoid conflicts.

Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang, Chairperson of MSCW, reiterated the essential role of women in building a peaceful society and advocated for women’s recognition and support. She aim to inspire and uplift women, emphasizing that helping one another makes a significant impact. W. Phajatombi Devi, Member Secretary of MSCW, acknowledged the importance of inclusively celebrating International Women’s Day while appreciating supportive men as gentlemen. The event also honored several former members of the MSCW and featured a documentary showcasing the roles and achievements of prominent women in Manipur. Attendees included women from various communities, dressed in traditional attire, alongside MSCW members and staff.
