Under the supervision of the District Administration Kakching, the District Social Welfare Office in collaboration with the District Health Society organised a free medical camp for senior citizens under the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY) scheme at Bengali Durga Mandir Community Hall, Serou Part II.
A total of 160 senior citizens underwent health check-ups at the medical camp, including screening for blood pressure, blood sugar levels and other ailments were conducted. Also, free medicines were distributed to the beneficiaries.
It may be mentioned that the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY) is a scheme aimed at improving quality of life of the Senior Citizens by providing basic amenities like shelter, food, medical care and entertainment opportunities and by encouraging productive and active ageing through providing support for capacity building of State/UT Governments/Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)/Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs)/local bodies and the community at large.
