Medanta – The Medicity, consecutively named India’s Best Private Hospital by Newsweek for six years, has launched a year-long “Jaanta Hai Medanta” campaign to raise cancer awareness and drive proactive interventions nationwide. The initiative begins with Breast Cancer, which accounts for one in four cancers among women globally, addressing a critical public health and economic burden.

With over 14 lakh cancer cases reported in 2023 by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), late diagnosis remains a significant challenge, increasing treatment costs and straining healthcare resources. Dr. Naresh Trehan, Chairman and Managing Director of Medanta, emphasized, “Evidence-based and accessible care is central to reducing the economic and social costs of cancer. Medanta leverages technology and research to improve outcomes at all stages of the disease.”

The campaign’s innovative “Aao Dekho Seekho” kiosks aim to educate women on proper self-breast examination, potentially reducing long-term healthcare expenditure through early detection.

The campaign is expected to influence the local healthcare market by increasing demand for preventive services and screening programs. Hospitals and clinics in the region are likely to engage with Medanta’s initiatives, potentially creating economic spillovers in healthcare delivery, diagnostics, and wellness services. The campaign will extend to other cancers over the year, supported by a Northeast Helpline in Assamese, Nagamese, English, and Hindi, with plans for Bengali and Mizo.
