The Department of Anthropology at Manipur University celebrated World Anthropology Day with the theme “Reaching the Unreached Through Anthropology” through an outreach initiative at S.I. School in Imphal West. The event started with an inaugural programme featuring addresses from key faculty members, including Prof. S. Jibonkumar Singh and Prof. M. C. Students from M.Sc., PGDPH, and Ph.D. programs were informed about the outreach’s aims, focusing on extending academic knowledge and practical experience to local schoolchildren. The activities highlighted diverse ethnic groups and their cultural practices, supported by a photo exhibition and health assessments. Various health parameters were monitored, including nutritional status, blood pressure, and lifestyle habits, alongside demonstrations in forensic anthropology and discussions on air pollution, hygiene, and mental well-being. The programme concluded with positive feedback from student representatives and the Principal of S.I. School, Sarangthem Chaoba Singh, who thanked the department for its valuable educational contributions and expressed interest in future collaborations.
