Security measures have been intensified in the Torbung area following an incident where suspected Kuki armed groups engaged in indiscriminate shooting on Tuesday night. The Manipur police reported that joint security forces are conducting thorough combing operations and area surveillance to ensure public safety. Senior police officials, including the Deputy Inspector General (DIG), assessed the situation at the incident site. During these operations, security forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition in the Kangvai area. The seizures included one Long Range Improvised Pump Action weapon, four Medium Range Improvised Pump Action firearms, one Medium Range Barrel-Blasted Improvised Pump Action, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) weighing approximately three kilograms, one Single Barrel firearm, and 17 empty cartridges of various calibers.

The Bomb Disposal Squad has safely disposed of the recovered IED, and security in the region has been heightened to maintain strict oversight, with authorities stating that the situation is under control. An FIR has been filed to facilitate further investigation into the incident. In an associated action on the same day, security forces apprehended an active member of the banned organization SOREPA in Lamding Nashikhong Leikai within the Thoubal district. The arrested individual, identified as Khundrakpam Bitanjit Meitei alias Tomcha, 31, from Heirok Part-II, had a mobile phone and a SIM card confiscated during his arrest.
