In celebration of the 76th Van Mahotsav, Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla arranged several events focused on environmental conservation and climate action. The governor planted a sapling as part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0” nationwide campaign at the Kangla Fort Complex to kick off the day. The City Convention Center served as the venue for the festival’s grand finale. While speaking, Governor Bhalla highlighted Manipur’s distinctive ecological heritage and praised the traditional forest protection techniques used by the indigenous people. He emphasized that planting a tree is still one of the most effective ways to combat the climate issue and warned that concerns like deforestation, unsustainable resource use, and climate change are both real and urgent. He also urged residents to take quick action.

He emphasized that all residents are encouraged to plant a tree in honor of their mothers and as a gesture of respect for Mother Earth as part of PM Modi’s Ek Ped Maa Ke Nam 2.0. In addition to distributing saplings to student delegates from each district, the Governor also issued a commemorative Van Mahatsav 2025 book, honored volunteers who helped the administration fight forest fires, and handed awards to the winners of a state-level art competition. In addition to encouraging everyone to plant trees for a better future, Governor Bhalla praised the Forest Department for planting 1.3 million saplings in sixteen districts using recycled plastic bottles as fence.
