Manipur Police have filed a FIR against BJP legislator L. Susindro Meitei for allegedly demolishing an under-construction school building in Imphal East district. The complaint was made by Konsam Santosh Meitei, a site supervisor with ATW (India) Pvt Ltd, regarding the demolition of a newly sanctioned building at Khurai Heikrumakhong Junior High School on January 18. The FIR claims that the demolition was executed using an excavator and suggests that the MLA directly ordered and participated in the act, as indicated in local media. The construction was financed under the Northeastern Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) and overseen by the Government of Manipur’s Education Engineering Wing.
The complainant asserted that the site was correctly allotted and construction began after proper verification and approval. He also reported previous threats from the MLA to halt construction, citing the site’s unsuitability and indicating potential demolition. The case has been registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984. Efforts to contact L. Susindro Meitei for comment were unsuccessful, as he is currently in the national capital. Police stated that the investigation is ongoing and they will thoroughly examine all elements of the case.
