Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh chaired a pivotal meeting at the state Secretariat to discuss renewed strategies. The Chief Minister took to microblogging site X to announce the significant initiative aimed at tackling the menace of drug cultivation head-on. The meeting, attended by key stakeholders including the Chief Secretary, Manipur Police Department, NCB, NAB, Forest Department, MARSAC, and Forensic Science, underscored the state government’s resolute commitment to eradicating the scourge of illegal poppy cultivation.
On February 8, addressing the media at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other central leaders for their swift response to the concerns raised by the people of Manipur. The recent decision to initiate the construction of fencing along the entire 1,643-kilometer Indo-Myanmar border and the immediate suspension of the Free Movement Regime has been welcomed with gratitude by the Chief Minister.
Highlighting the paramount importance of ensuring the safety and security of Manipur’s citizens and its territorial integrity, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh reiterated the state government’s unwavering commitment to addressing various challenges. Since assuming office in 2017, the government has prioritized initiatives aimed at maintaining demographic balance, combating drug trafficking, and enhancing border security.
