Kuki-Zo MLA Vungzagin Valte was airlifted to Medanta – The Medicity Hospital in Gurugram for treatment following serious injuries from violence in Imphal in May 2023. After his health worsened, he was admitted to the ICU at Churachandpur Medical College Hospital where Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh closely monitored his condition. Doctors coordinated via tele-conferencing to provide care, and an air ambulance was arranged for his evacuation. As his condition improved, Valte was transported from Churachandpur to Imphal Airport, accompanied by district officials and two BJP legislators. Upon arrival, the Chief Minister met with Valte’s family and expressed wishes for his speedy recovery. The air ambulance departed Imphal Airport at approximately 4:30 pm.
