Addressing the ongoing crisis in Manipur, Chief Minister N Biren Singh offered reassurance, stating that the challenges faced today are paving the way for a better future. Speaking at the launch event of “Project Buniyaad-Aathmanirbharta ka Aadhar” organized by Honda India Foundation (HIF) at Classic Grande, Imphal East, Singh expressed gratitude to HIF for their initiative to empower Manipuri youth amidst difficult times. He emphasized his personal commitment to the youth of Manipur by attending the launch ceremony. Singh acknowledged the current crisis as a struggle for existence, survival, and identity, noting the historical threats faced by the state’s land and identity. However, he assured the public of the government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the state’s integrity and ensuring a prosperous future for the next generation.
Highlighting recent measures taken by the government, such as scrapping the Free Movement Regime, implementing border fencing, and introducing the Inner Line Permit System, Singh underscored their importance in curbing illegal activities and preventing the influx of illegal immigrants. In his suggestions to HIF, Singh urged prioritization of students affected by the crisis and emphasized the importance of reaching out to remote areas and hill districts during the selection process for the project.
Vinay Dhingra, Trustee of Honda India Foundation, elaborated on the objectives of Project Buniyaad, emphasizing its aim to provide employment opportunities to unemployed youth from marginalized sections of society. Dhingra expressed pride in the project’s potential to train and employ 1000 youth from Manipur over the next three years, aligning with Honda Foundation’s commitment to societal welfare and inclusivity.
