BJP MLAs in Manipur held a key meeting on Monday with an aim to restore peace and rehabilitate all internally displaced persons (IDPs) under a popular government in the state. The discussions focused on translating public mandate into tangible action, particularly in areas affected by ethnic unrest and prolonged displacement. Speaking to media persons after the meeting, senior BJP MLA Khongbantabam Ibomcha said the popular government could not have been formed without public support, making it the primary responsibility of elected representatives to fulfil the people’s aspirations. The meeting was attended by several BJP MLAs, including Kuki legislators Nemcha Kipgen, the newly appointed Deputy Chief Minister, L M Khaute, and Ngursanglur Sanate. The Kuki MLAs joined the meeting through virtual mode.
Ibomcha said legislators held detailed discussions on strategies to ensure lasting peace and harmony across communities. The BJP leaders resolved to expedite the release of pending financial assistance meant for the resettlement and rehabilitation of internally displaced persons. Highlighting infrastructure concerns, Ibomcha said road conditions in many parts of Manipur are in a severely dilapidated state. The meeting resolved to priorities road repair and upgrade works ahead of the monsoon season to prevent further disruption to connectivity and daily life.
