Hours after Y Khemchand took office as the Chief Minister of Manipur, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla announced that the seventh session of the Twelfth Manipur Legislative Assembly will convene at 4 PM on February 5, 2026. This decision, made under Clause (1) of Article 174 of the Constitution of India, was communicated through an order from the Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat. Prior to the Assembly session, a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) is scheduled for 3 PM. Following his swearing-in, Khemchand chaired his first Cabinet meeting at the Chief Minister’s bungalow, with key figures including chief secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel, deputy chief minister L Dikho, and newly sworn-in ministers Govindas Konthoujam and K Loken Singh also in attendance. The meeting, which occurred shortly after his inauguration, initiated a new phase of collective decision-making for the newly constituted State Cabinet, reflecting the beginning of governance under Khemchand’s leadership.
