A field staff of electricity department, government of Manipur has died due to electrocution while repairing a high-tension power line at Khurkhul Lamkhai in Imphal west district yesterday morning.
Reports said that the deceased has been identified as one Nongthombam Lokendro Singh, son of late Nongthombam Sanajaoba Singh. He is a resident of Kanto Sabal under Sekmai Police Station in Imphal west district.
The source further said that the incident occurred at around 8am yesterday while the 50 year-old man was engaged in repairing the Khonghampat to Leimakhong high-tension power line at Khurkhul Lamkhai.The power supply was reportedly switched on during the repairing work was underway or without proper communication, leading to the electrocution.The body was taken to Catholic Hospital at Koirengei under Heingang Police Station in Imphal east district.
Police sources said that necessary procedures are being carried out and further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident are awaited.
