A sit-in protest occurred at Tejpur Primary School Ground in Kakching district following the murder of Chingakham Malemnganba, aged 51, at Keirak Makha Leikai. The Joint Action Committee Against the Brutal Killing of Chingakham Malemnganba (JAC), formed in response to the incident, demanded that the government apprehend the murderers by March 16, threatening to withhold the deceased’s body until justice is served. The JAC condemned the barbaric act, stating that it has instilled fear and anger in the community, and urged for a transparent investigation into the killing, which occurred on March 13 at approximately 5:30 PM. They expressed solidarity with the victim’s family and called for immediate actions from the authorities, including the arrest of all involved and protection for the bereaved family. The JAC encouraged public and civil society support for their cause and warned of potential democratic agitation if the government does not respond effectively by the deadline.
