Security forces in Imphal West district conducted search operations that led to the recovery of a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives in Lambal Awang Leikai, including a locally made Single Barrel Gun, a 9 mm pistol, six additional pistols, 64 various ammunition rounds, three SLR blank cartridges, a 36 HE grenade, a detonator, and other explosive devices. Furthermore, 18 improvised explosive devices were safely disposed of, minimizing potential threats to civilians and security personnel. The police characterized this recovery as a key advancement in curbing militant activity within the border district. Additionally, two militants linked to different banned groups were arrested: one from the banned Peoples’ Liberation Army and another from Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup. In a separate incident in Churachandpur district, security forces intercepted a bus and arrested a suspect, Thangminlian Zou, with approximately 57.7 kilograms of contraband opium, leading to another arrest during subsequent investigations.
