Beginning Saturday, November 1, 2025, state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) have reduced the prices of commercial LPG cylinders, offering relief to businesses in the hospitality and food sectors that depend heavily on cooking gas. With this revision, the cost of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has been cut by ₹5, bringing the new price to ₹1,590.50 from the previous ₹1,595.50, according to data from the Indian Oil Corporation. In other major cities, the updated rates are ₹1,694 in Kolkata, ₹1,542 in Mumbai, and ₹1,750 in Chennai. However, domestic LPG cylinder prices remain unchanged.
The government’s move aligns with its broader effort to make LPG more affordable. Earlier in August, the Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved a ₹30,000 crore subsidy for OMCs such as Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum. The measure aims to ensure accessible LPG amid global market fluctuations. This decision followed the U.S. government, under President Donald Trump, increasing tariffs on India to 50%, citing continued imports of discounted Russian crude oil.
