The Directorate of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution in Manipur issued a statement on Friday to dispel rumors circulating on social media about a supposed shortage of LPG and petroleum products in the state. The directorate emphasized that there is sufficient stock available and highlighted that misinformation from users and propagandists could incite unnecessary panic among the public. The Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), based in Imphal, has confirmed that there is no shortage, attributing recent temporary disruptions in LPG distribution to a technical issue with the Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) system at the national level, which has since been rectified. The oil company reassured that adequate supplies of both LPG and petroleum products (POL) are present throughout Manipur. Additionally, the department urged consumers to refrain from panicking or unnecessarily hoarding these products, as such behavior may pose safety risks and lead to accidents.
