Following the seminar on “Manipuri Khunaida Mahei Lairembigi Phida” at Khongnangthaba University, a worship ceremony for Maheigi Lairenbi, the Goddess of Learning, took place at the Kangleipak Medical and Nursing Institute campus. The event was graced by Prof. Naorem Joykumar, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Khaidem Jayanta Meitei presided over the ceremony, with Prof. K. Bheigyachandra, Dean of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, as Guest of Honour.

Prof. K. Bheigyachandra emphasized the significant role of the Goddess of Learning in Meitei culture, noting that worship traditionally occurred on the fifth day of the lunar month “Phairen.” He lamented that the practice had diminished over time but has recently been revived at Khongnangthaba University. He encouraged students to engage in this worship, referring to the Goddess by her traditional name “Humbu Naoreng Sungbi, Ima Singja Khongbi,” highlighting the importance of maintaining cultural heritage.

In his address, Prof. Joykumar urged students to hold the Goddess of Learning in their hearts and minds, advocating for a deeper concentration on their studies. He stressed the values of discipline and respect for elders, asserting that studying with reverence would not only be beneficial but also enhance moral values, aligning academic pursuits with cultural traditions.
