A substantial number of volunteers from the Kangleipak Students’ Association (KSA) gathered at Manipur University to protest against the Vice Chancellor, demanding his resignation due to accusations of maladministration and irregularities. The protestors, who attempted to approach the Vice Chancellor’s office but were restrained by security forces, vocalized their discontent through slogans that criticized his capability and alleged involvement in corrupt practices. They locked the main gate of the Vice Chancellor’s office and called for inquiries into what they termed irregularities, including illegal recruitment practices. KSA president Seram Hemjit accused Vice Chancellor N. Lokendro Singh of making arbitrary appointments without proper authorization, compromising the dignity and credibility of the institution. Hemjit emphasized that the protest aims to “save Manipur University” and protect the student community’s future, asserting that their agitation will persist until the Vice Chancellor is relieved of his duties.
