The poetry book “Mahousa,” authored by Khangenbam Sanahanbi, was formally launched at Khorirol Sanglel Wangjing in the Thoubal district. The event, organized by Ningol Khut Manipur Wangjing, a women-only literary organization in Manipur, featured poetry recitations as part of its program. “Mahousa” comprises 53 poems and marks Sanahanbi’s inaugural contribution to Manipuri literature, underscoring her residence in Kairembikhok, Thoubal district.
Heikham Chaoba Devi, who serves as the Secretary of Ningol Khut Manipur Wangjing, published the book, which is noted as the 9th release from the organization. The book launch was graced by distinguished individuals, including Tongbram Babulal, who acted as the chief guest, alongside speakers such as Khundongbam Gunamani Leima, the organization’s president, Kartik Maiba, President of SAYOKA Tentha, and Dr. Yumnam Mahendra Kumar, who is the President of Manipur Sahitya Parishad Thoubal District.
A highlight of the event was a speech by the well-known writer Shaikhom Chaoba, discussing the significance of the book. Additionally, there was a poetry recitation segment featuring over 15 poets and poetesses, showcasing their works. Attendees expressed optimism that “Mahousa” would serve as an inspiration for more female writers and foster the development of Manipuri literature, with a notable turnout of literary enthusiasts present at the function.
