A one-day District Level Convergence Meeting on “Issues of Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Children” was organized by the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Kakching District, with attendees including MCPCR Chairperson Keisam Pradikumar, Deputy Commissioner Uppuluri Chaitanya, and other district officials. Pradikumar emphasized the MCPCR’s aim to provide interventions focused on the protection and mental health of internally displaced children, highlighting past grassroots efforts and the importance of coordinated work among various agencies. He noted the Kakching Child Welfare Committee’s initiative to open a bank account for children to support their education and career development. A draft State Action Plan outlining support for IDP children returning from relief camps was introduced, and DC Chaitanya urged cooperation from all stakeholders for the welfare of these children. The meeting included a presentation on the challenges faced by IDP children in Kakching and facilitated discussions between officials and the IDPs present.
